Lost the object while meditating – Knowing mind

Question: Hello Sayadaw, I am practicing meditation by observing the object but sometimes I feel like I lose my concentration but at the same time I become aware clearly about everything around. Is it ok or did something wrong happen? Thank you.

– “That’s right if he is knowing everything naturally. He should try to know impermanent nature of knowing mind. If we are able to be mindful the object outside of the mind, we may lose the object to be mindful and then naturally we will know whatever happens in us. But in that situation we need to be mindful that knowing mind. Knowing mind is not something, just impermanent nature to be used only. We should not attach on something, we should not attach on knowing mind of everything. We need to detach from the knowing mind. Only when we know about impermanent nature of knowing mind we will be able to detach from knowing mind. If we are able to be mindful of the knowing mind at the present moment, this will maybe disappear again and we must be able to be mindful the present action of mindfulness. This is the last step in mindfulness. This is the most difficult practice of all.”
