Question: Hi Sayadaw. My master has taught me no matter what we eat: meat or vegetables; the matter is how our mind would be. I’m trying to do good deeds but my anger is still very strong. I think it might not be ok, I mean doing good deeds with an angry mind. So I have stopped. What do you think, Sayadaw?

“Doing good deeds is for all, not concerning whether we are angry or ignorant. Because of our habits some are greedy or angry or ignorant. It is difficult to destroy the habit. Instead of feeling bad about this anger, you should try to accept it. We are used to ambit to be complete. We may desire or dream with that ambition. We aim high, we dream big. Because of this, we are not satisfied with our own weaknesses. That is misusing the anger of weakness. Grasping use is wrong even if you cannot reduce the anger, you should not grasp as your anger. In fact there are cause and effect. Because of the causes, we become angry, greedy. It’s difficult to destroy/ remove/ correct but there are also solutions for this problem. We need to do good deeds patiently, you should understand that you are the only one who has anger, many people are the same: angry, short temper; because no one is complete. This is nature, not easy to change. You should try to accept it. to endure your own anger and continue doing good deeds more and more seriously.”
