Reading time:

Question: In this morning, you say that coming here to meditate is right for me. I agree with that. But in daily life, I need to work. I can not spend many hours just to sit. I feel that is kind of wasting time, i’m quite confusing whether I should continue meditate or not?

“No, it is not wasting time, is is learning. It is easy to make mistakes and not to get success when we do good deeds. To get success is not easy for everyone, that is the nature. But if we don’t try, we can not understand, we cannot accept it. We may think if I meditate I can get enlightenment. If I keep precepts I might be able to keep precepts. It is easy to misunderstand like this.

It is difficult to get success when we do good deeds, it is the truth, it is nature. But most people do not understand. That’s why they may think they can get enlightenment easily, that’s why they do not much emphasize to meditate. Some people may think, getting enlightenment is impossible that’s why they may never try. This is the mistake of human beings. The more we meditate, the more we can understand the truth about meditation. This is good. To know about the practice of meditation by our own experiences is really great. If we don’t try, we cannot correct our traditional mistakes.

Now you are meditating, that’s why you have your own experiences of meditation. The more you meditate, the more you experience. In this way, you can be a real meditator even if you don’t get wisdom. That’s why you should continue to meditate whatever happens, good or bad. The more you know about meditation, the nearer to enlightenment you are. That is not wasting time. If you are not meditating, it is really wasting time.”
